Affordable Housing Gurgaon and the Need for an Affordable Housing Scheme
To cope with the ever-increasing demand of urban dwellers in India which by 2050 is expected to rise to 814 million people, the government had announced the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (PMAY) in 2016 or popularly known as affordable housing scheme of India.The calculation predicted is almost twice the number that already reside in urban areas. The challenges are to provide affordable housing, sanitation and sustainable development to people which in turn would ensure a sustainable and safe environment for the urban populace.
The scheme laid out that those with an annual income of up to Rs 12 lakh could avail a four-percentage point interest subsidy on a loan of Rs 9 lakh, while those with an income of up to Rs 18 lakh would get an interest subsidy of three percentage on a loan of Rs 12 lakh.
The Haryana government has also introduced this scheme through the civic body of HUDA in the state and real estate developers in the state have come up with a list of affordable housing projects in Gurgaonwith best amenities

The HUDA affordable housing policy was met with great enthusiasm in Haryana and many developers have come up with a range of housing options in the ‘achievable’ price range of Rs 17-24 lakh. The Haryana Government has issued licenses to 23 developers to build affordable housing projects in the millennium city of Gurgaon, itself, under the Haryana Affordable Housing Policy 2013.Developers like Global Signature, Tulip Infratech, GLS/Pivotal, and Supertech are some of the leading names who are developing these affordable houses under the HUDA affordable housing policy.
