Is Gmail Not Working? The Gmail inbox feature does not work properly, or the Gmail mail app cannot open at all, or it asks you to enter third party passwords and more.
If you are facing such head-scratching issues, don’t worry, because we will give you every possible and practical method to fix Gmail not working on iPhone with iOS 11.2/11.1/11. Check them now.
Step 1: If you are unable to open Gmail emails properly in iPhone Mail App, try downloading and installing the Gmail Mail App from Apple iTunes Store or App Store. Gmail Mail App is working fine mostly for all iPhone models. While if you do not want to use Gmail Mail App, you can wait till either Apple or Gmail find a fix for this problem.
Step 2: If Gmail asks you to use third party passwords when you are signing in from any other app, like the iPhone Mail App, please follow these steps:
(I) Sign in and go to your Account security page
(II) Click Generate app password or Manage app passwords.
(III) Select your app from the drop-down menu and click Generate.
(IV) Follow the instructions below the password.
(V) Click Done.
(VI) Use this app password and your email address to sign in to your email app.
For other common Gmail mail not working on iPhone issues, you can try the following tips to fix them.
Step 3: Try signing out of your mailbox > Restart your iPhone > Login to your Gmail email account again.
Step 4: Since the latest iOS versions will fix many bugs existing in previous versions, you can update your iPhone to the latest available update by going to Settings > General > Software Update to check if there is a new iOS version.
Step 5: There is a possibility that you don’t enable cellular data. So when your iPhone is out of WiFi, your Gmail emails cannot be received. Go to Settings > Cellular > Toggle Mail App.
Step 6: Set SMTP server Go to Settings > Accounts & Passwords > Gmail! > Account > Outgoing Mail server SMTP > Other SMTP Servers.
